In the myths of the Iroquois tribes
Athensic, the ancestress of mankind, fell from heaven into the waters of the Deluge as it was receding and she found herself on dry land which soon became a continent. Later
Enigorio and Enigohatgea, the twin brothers, began to organize life again, and when the Iroquois migrated to the Land of the Stone Giants, their enemies were overcome by the efforts of
Hinun, the thunder god, and his brother the West Wind. One of their later culture heroes was
Atatarho.
In another version of the story the twins are named Tsetsa and
Tawiscara, as in the
Huron Creation Legend.
